Product Description

STEAM is the acronym used for Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics.

STEAM education is based on the idea of educating children in four specific subjects in an interdisciplinary and applied approach. Rather than teaching the four disciplines on a separate basis, STEAM integrates children into a more cohesive learning paradigm based on real-world applications of the subjects.

The emphasis is on fun, yet we inspire learning about concepts through dialogue and questioning.

Monday 6 April: Encryption and Decryption

The ability to encrypt and protect data is a concern for many businesses and users on the internet. In this Python and coding-based session, your child will learn about how to encrypt and decrypt data using a basic Ceaser cypher. Children will also make a smart cryptography robot.

Tuesday 7 April: Warning!

Warning! Utilises the software and hardware components of Arduino to create an encrypted safety mechanism for a security box including an emergency access strategy. During this session, children will aim to create libraries in order to accept letters, numbers, and symbols from the terminal.

Wednesday 8 April: Cryptology and Mathematics

In this mathematics-based session, children will be introduced to how mathematics can be used to code words and data. Children will learn about Morse code and how this was used in WWII for communication purposes, as well as the mathematics behind the Enigma machine and how binary code is used as an input for computers.

Thursday 9 April: Covert Chemistry

In the final session of this week, your child will learn about the science behind spying and the techniques used by secret agents for espionage purposes or to communicate in a covert manner. Children will create their own invisible inks, learn about the operation of the microdot camera and more.
