Monday 22 July: Famous Chemists
This session investigates the contribution from famous chemists. Children will recreate experiments from Crick and Watson and Lavoisier as they learn about the chemistry behind their experiments. Children will also learn the contribution from Mendeleev.
Tuesday 23 July: Environmental Science
Environmental science is the integration of ecology, biology, chemistry and earth science. Children will participate in experiments examining the effect of acid rain, the greenhouse effect and create their own biodome.
Wednesday 24 July: It’s an Illusion
It’s an illusion investigates optical illusions and the science behind these. Children will observe optical illusions and make their own ones. Children will also learn about the anatomy and physiology of the brain through a brain dissection.
Thursday 25 July: Sunshine Science
Sunshine science teaches children about the chemical reactions occurring in the Sun and how over thousands of years, civilisations have made use of the properties of Sun. children will construct a solar-powered oven, make a solar-powered roof and learn model nuclear fission.
Friday 26 July: Thermodynamics
Thermodynamics is an area of science which concerns heat and its relationship with other energy forms. In this session, children will make their own thermometer, investigate the best insulator and more.
