Product Description

The emphasis is on fun, yet we inspire learning about concepts through dialogue and questioning.
We will be offering brand new programmes for each week in summer.

***PLEASE NOTE THAT TOPICS AND/OR THE ORDER OF THE TOPICS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE WITHOUT PRIOR NOTICE***

Monday 12 August: Robot Line Following

Your child will use the EV3 Lego Mindstorms in this session. We will reinforce concepts regarding the colour sensor and the fundamental hardware components of the robot. This session will culminate in children completing more line following tasks.

Tuesday 13 August: Obstacle Avoidance and the Colour Sensor

Following on from Monday’s session, children will programme their robot to avoid certain obstacles when they are coloured in a certain way. For instance, turning when the robot encounters red and continuing when the robot notices green.

Wednesday 14 August: Design a Simple Control Panel

Using Arduino, children will be asked to design a control panel using coloured cards with an appropriate layout. They will then be introduced to a real-life problem in which a control panel is required (e.g. A/C in a house) and they will have to mimic it.

Thursday 15 August: Bike Hire App

In this coding session, children will be tasked with developing a bicycle hire app. This project will involve developing an app for a fictional company to help users hire bicycles. They will be guided through writing unit tests to validate the core functionalities of the bike hire app.

Friday 16 August: We are all Musicians

In this session, your child will replicate a music keyboard using a buzzer and several pushbuttons using both the Arduino hardware and software components. The main outcome of the session is the successful development of a keyboard keys range.
