Tuesday 27 August: Bioengineering
Brilliant bioengineering teaches children how knowledge of engineering is applied to biology. In this session, children will construct an artificial leg, hand and compose a new glue for a cast.
Wednesday 28 August: Microbiology
Microbiology is the study of microorganisms such as bacteria, virus and some fungi. In this session, children will observe microorganisms under the microscope, experiment with yeast, create model microbes and more.
Thursday 29 August: Nuclear Science
In this session, children will learn about nuclear physics and how the energy produced can be harnessed. Children will model nuclear fission, chain reactions, control rods and will design and construct a nuclear power station.
Friday 30 August: Materials Matter
Children will gain an appreciation of what properties different materials have and why a combination of different materials are important. Children will be set a wide range of challenges such as designing a suitable crash barrier for a motorway, constructing a suitable insulator and more.
