Monday 29 July: Dynastic DNA
DNA, or deoxyribonucleic acid, carries the genetic information for all living things. In this session, your child will learn about the structure and function of DNA including nucleic acids, transcription and translation. Children will build model DNA molecules and extract DNA from cells.
Tuesday 30 July: The Eye and the Lens
The eye is an organ which enables us to see. In this session, children will dissect a real eye ball and learn about its structure. Children will also progress in looking at the different types of lenses and building a model eye.
Wednesday 31 July: Feel the Force
Forces are interactions which may change the speed, direction or shape of an object. Children about the different types of forces, the applications of forces and force calculations as they build and participate in different force experiments.
Thursday 1 August: Plenty of Polymers
Polymers are long-chained molecules composed of repeating single units called monomers. In this session, children will make their own polymers and will also examine polymers in nappies, hair gel and water beads. Children will learn about the process of polymerisation and what viscosity is.
Friday 2 August: Cars and Transportation
In our final session of the Summer Camp, your child will build and construct eco-friendly cars, build a new road for London and more. Children will learn about forces, energy and mechanical engineering as part of this theme.
