ABOUT THIS CAMP

Before commencing the English camp, your child will be sent a written placement test. They will then participate in an oral test on their first day to determine their English level and place them in an appropriate group. The information from both assessments will inform the tutor of your child’s strengths and areas to develop. This face-to-face camp has been designed for children to enjoy, have fun and learn. Our face-to-face English summer camp groups are small to give tutors and children greater scope for interaction, dialogue, questions, and answers. We motivate students to develop their understanding of English and grammar while having fun. We teach fundamental English reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills through fun and interesting themes and varied activities. Children develop their skills through working independently or collaboratively as a group.

WHAT WE TEACH

We teach children how to use English in a practical and real-world context. Children broaden their vocabulary and develop their communication skills through dialogue, discussions and writing tasks. Below is an overview of what children are taught per age group.

  • Children aged 5-7 are taught the fundamentals of English language, including communicating in simple sentences and sentence structure. We also encourage children to apply new vocabulary to express their ideas or views on a range of topics.
  • Children aged 8-10 are taught how to write in extended sentences, use a range of interesting adjectives in their speeches and writing and develop their understanding and use of English grammar.
  • Children aged 11-17 are taught to consolidate their knowledge of English grammar as well as use a range of sophisticated vocabulary. Children will  express their ideas clearly, focusing on public speaking skills. Children will practise their reading, writing and listening skills by being exposed to more challenging content.

DIFFERENTIATION

We understand that ‘one size does not fit all‘. Therefore, our tutors and mentors differentiate the content of our sessions. We ensure that all children, regardless of their level of knowledge, are engaged at the appropriate level and pace.
