About this camp: This Pre-Medicine virtual camp has been designed for students to enjoy, have fun and learn. Our virtual summer classes are small to enable tutors and students greater scope for interaction, dialogue, questions and answers. We motivate campers to develop their understanding of medicine while having fun. We also stimulate students to be creative. We teach children to learn how to identify a problem and look for a solution. We also foster the development of resilience. Sometimes, some children tend to give up easily. We teach students that they need to try for alternate solutions to a given problem.

What we teach: We encourage children to learn and discuss in-depth science and medicine, what is the purpose of medicine, what medicine entails, fundamental definitions and concepts used in medicine. We also motivate campers to have a good understanding of medicine. Campers work on activities to develop problem-solving skills, teamwork and resilience.

Topics include: Duties and Responsibilities of a Doctor, Microbiology, Neuronal Communication, Hormonal Communication, Pharmacology, Medical School, Emergency Medicine, Respiratory Medicine, Homeostasis, Respiration, Clinical Skills, Epidemiology, Cardiovascular Disease, The Integumentary System, Exchange Surfaces, Surgery, Public Health, The Renal System, Cell Division and Cancer, Cell Diversity, Introduction to Medical School, The Defence System, Anatomy ‘Lab’.

Differentiation: At Richer Education, we understand that ‘one size does not fit all‘. Therefore, our tutors and mentors differentiate the content of our sessions. We ensure that all children, regardless of their level of knowledge, are engaged at the appropriate level and pace.
