Time: From 10:00 am until 12:00 pm or 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm (UK TIME).
Location: Online via Zoom. Please be ready five minutes before the start time.
Tutor-Child Ratio: 1:10 (strictly minimum 4 children, maximum 10 children). We will offer you an alternative course if the course is fully booked or if the course does not open.
Resources for the session: Children will need to have access to stationery, including pens or pencils and paper.
About this camp: This virtual camp has been designed for children to enjoy, have fun and learn. Our virtual summer camps are small to enable tutors and children greater scope for interaction, dialogue, questions and answers. We motivate children to develop their understanding of politics while having fun. We also stimulate children to be creative. We teach children to learn how to identify a problem and look for a solution. We also foster the development of resilience. Sometimes, some children tend to give up easily. We teach children that they need to try for alternate solutions to a given problem.
What we teach: We encourage children to learn and discuss in-depth politics, what is the purpose of politics, what politics entails, fundamental definitions and concepts used in politics. We also motivate children to have a good understanding of politics. Children work on activities to develop problem-solving skills, teamwork and resilience.
Topics include: What is Politics?, The Role of a Government, Political Leaders, Authoritarian Governments, Socialism, The Importance of Voting, International Relations, Democracy, Rule of Law, Communism, Political Campaigns, Political Ideologies, Anarchism, Capitalism, Forms of Government, Elections and Referendums, Constitutional Frameworks, Executive Branches, Liberalism, Socialism, Political Parties, Judiciary, Dictatorships, Conservatism, Civil Rights, Devolution.
