Location: Online via Zoom. Please be ready five minutes before the start time.

Tutor-Child Ratio: 1:10 (minimum 3 children, maximum 10 children). We will offer you an alternative course if the course is fully booked or if the course does not open.

Resources for the session: Children will need to have access to stationery, including pens or pencils and paper.

About this camp: This virtual camp has been designed for children to enjoy, have fun and learn. Our virtual Geography Christmas camps are small to enable tutors and children greater scope for interaction, dialogue, questions and answers. We motivate children to develop their understanding of science while having fun. We also stimulate children to be creative. We teach children to learn how to identify a problem and look for a solution. We also foster the development of resilience. Sometimes, some children tend to give up easily. We teach children that they need to try for alternate solutions to a given problem.

Topics include:What is geography? Rivers. Tourism. Growing population. Challenges facing the planet. Glaciation. Volcanoes. Antarctica and polar regions. Living in the snow and ice. Coasts. Town and cities. Environment. Resources. Map skills. Case studies of different countries. Earthquakes. Urban issues and challenges. Food consumption. Coastal landscapes. Hot deserts. Natural hazards. Water supply and consumption. Glacial landforms. Cold environments. Distribution of resources. Climate change. Water supply and consumption. Population and migration. The changing economic world.

What we teach: Children learn about the different types of geography, including physical and human geography. Children will develop their understanding of significant physical and human processes and contribute to prominent structures and features. Children will learn about critical global locations and will explain, using their geographical knowledge, how these developed over time. Children will also develop their geography skills, including map reading and observation. Children will understand the impact of climate change on the planet and the steps to reduce the future impact.

Differentiation: At Richer Education, we understand that ‘one size does not fit all‘. Therefore, our tutors and mentors differentiate the content of our sessions. We ensure that all children, regardless of their level of knowledge, are engaged at the appropriate level and pace.
