What is Python? Python is a high-level programming language.
What is the purpose of coding? Coding is considered a basic but fundamental literacy skill within the digital age. Therefore, it is paramount for children to learn and have a good understanding of how coding and computer science work so they will also be able to understand how technology works and how technology continually evolves around us.
Benefits of learning coding: Learning how to code brings several advantages to children. One of the main benefits of learning how to code is children developing an appreciation on how things work. Coding helps children to develop how to problem-solve and how to develop resilience while having fun and being creative.
About this course: This virtual course has been designed for children to enjoy, have fun and learn. Our virtual weekdays part-time autumn courses are small. The rationale behind having small groups is to enable tutors and children greater scope for interaction, dialogue, questions and answers. We also stimulate children to be creative. We teach children to learn how to identify a problem and look for a solution. We also foster the development of resilience. Sometimes, some children tend to give up easily. We teach children that they need to try for alternate solutions to a given problem in a logical and creative way.
What we teach: Understand how computer science works. Learn and consolidate fundamental principles of Python as a coding language. Learn and understand how to write Python programs. Understand how programs work and what code does. Work on practical activities such as building their own applications and building a chatbot. Develop problem-solving skills, teamwork and resilience.
Differentiation: At Richer Education, we understand that ‘one size does not fit all‘. Therefore, our tutors and mentors differentiate the content of our sessions. We ensure that all children, regardless of their level of knowledge, are engaged at the appropriate level and pace.

EXTRA-CURRICULAR IMPACT: THE DEVELOPMENT OF SKILLS FOR LIFE
From experience, we noticed that children tend to develop other skills through coding. Coding involves creative thinking; we stimulate children to be creative. Problem-solving skills, sometimes children tend to expect to be right all the time. However, coding teaches children to learn how to identify a problem and look for a solution. We also foster the development of resilience. Sometimes, some children tend to give up easily. We teach children that they need to try for alternate solutions to a given problem.
The emphasis is on fun, yet we inspire learning about concepts through dialogue and questioning.
