What is leadership? Leadership is the process of leading a group through collaboration, effective communication and inspiration. Children aged 7-9 are introduced to the concept of leadership and what being a leader entails. Children aged 10-12 explore their personal qualities and what skills effective leaders have. Children aged 13-15 take an in-depth look at leadership through different case studies, leadership styles and leaders of the past and present.

What is the purpose of learning leadership skills? Leadership develops an awareness of the impact that being a leader has on those around us. This course encourages children to consider their personal qualities, strengths and weaknesses which can be developed into effective leadership. Children will learn about the power of empathy, trust and respect and the value of listening and patience as a leader. This course will explore the impact of leaders of the past and the lessons we can learn from them as well as how children can be an effective leader at home, school and beyond.

Benefits of developing leadership skills: Leadership instils confidence and encourages children to be aware of the impact of their actions on others. Leadership skills help children to solve problems creatively by applying decision-making processes. Leadership provides children with opportunities to work effectively as a team, develop responsibility and explore their leadership persona. Children are taught to work through their problems, face challenges and compromise through negotiation.

About this course: This virtual course has been designed for children to enjoy, have fun and learn. Our virtual Leadership Saturday courses are small to enable tutors and children greater scope for interaction, dialogue, questions and answers. We motivate children to develop their understanding of leadership and management while having fun.

We also stimulate children to be creative. We teach children to learn how to identify a problem and look for a solution. We also foster the development of resilience. Sometimes, some children tend to give up easily. We teach campers that they need to try for alternate solutions to a given problem.

What we teach: We encourage children to learn and discuss in-depth leadership and management concepts. Children learn about the purpose of leadership, managerial styles, facts and fundamental definitions of leadership and management. We also motivate children to have a good understanding of leadership. Children work on activities to develop problem-solving skills, teamwork and resilience.

Topics include: Introduction to Leadership and Management, Decision Making, Collaboration, Facing Challenge, A Resilient Leader, Qualities and Skills, Problem Solving, Body Language, A Good Leader, Communication Skills, Dealing with Conflict, Powerful Speeches, Empathy, Leadership Language, Prioritising, Microexpressions, The Art of Negotiation, Personality Traits, Leadership Case Studies, Building Trust and Respect, Ethos, Logos and Pathos, Leadership Mindset.

Differentiation: At Richer Education, we understand that ‘one size does not fit all‘. Therefore, our tutors and mentors differentiate the content of our sessions. We ensure that all children, regardless of their level of knowledge, are engaged at the appropriate level and pace.
