STEAM is the acronym used for Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics.
STEAM education is based on the idea of educating children in four specific subjects in an interdisciplinary and applied approach. Rather than teaching the four disciplines on a separate basis, STEAM integrates children into a more cohesive learning paradigm based on real-world applications of the subjects.
The emphasis is on fun, yet we inspire learning about concepts through dialogue and questioning.

Monday 13 April: BANK HOLIDAY ***CLOSED***
Tuesday 14 April: Robots and Forklifts
Forklifts are essential pieces of machinery in factories and warehouses as they enable heavy items to be lifted and transported with ease. In this robotics-based session, your child will programme an EV3 Mindstorms robot to move autonomously, pick and place an object using the forklift mechanism and avoid any potential obstacles.
Wednesday 15 April: Coding and the Industry
Companies are looking at ways to make manufacturing processes and warehouses more efficient in terms of money, time and space. In this Python-based session, your child will code an app that will help a fictional company deliver parcels on time and maximise their storage space.
Thursday 16 April: Pulleys and Hydraulics
This session is anything but simple as children will be learning about the role that machines play in our everyday life. We will be covering areas such as moments, levers, pulleys and more. Children will build their own pulleys, and hydraulic and pneumatic devices. They will be expected to compare and contrast the differences and will be challenged to calculate the mathematics of these.
Friday 17 April: Science and Manufacturing
In our final session of the STEAM Easter Camp, your child will become a manufacturing scientist who will create new cosmetic products such as a bath bomb, hand gel and lip balm. Children will learn about the science behind these products but will also need to consider how to make the manufacturing process efficient and cost-effective.
