Monday 18 February: Historical Mathematics
We commence our STEM Summer Camp by studying the contributions towards mathematics from different civilisations of the past. Your child will learn about the Babylonians, Ancient Romans, Ancient Egyptians and more.
Tuesday 19 February: Neurotic Neuroscience
Neuroscience is the study of the structure and function of the nervous system. Your child will have a unique opportunity to learn about the structure of the brain and perform a dissection. Children will learn about the reflex arc and more.
Wednesday 20 February: Biochemistry
Biochemistry is an interdisciplinary subject that incorporates elements of biology, chemistry and mathematics. Children will be learning and discovering the role of enzymes, DNA and more through a variety of hands-on activities.
Thursday 21 February: Sustainable Engineering
Sustainability is becoming an increasingly important area in STEM. Your child will be assigned the role of a sustainable engineer as they design, build and evaluate a pervious paving system, roof garden and more.
Friday 22 February: Rocket Science
In this science, engineering and mathematics-based day, children will be constructing and launching a variety of different rockets using different reaction masses. Children will perform calculations that estimate its velocity and will employ Newton’s laws of motion.
