Tuesday 28 May: Captivating Crystals
Captivating crystals teaches children about the structure and formation of a wide range of crystals from salt to sugar and more. Children will be examining the chemical composition of crystals, they microscopic structure and the process of crystallisation as a separation technique.
Wednesday 29 May: Expect an Epidemic!
In this session, we will learn about microbes, pathogens and antisepsis. Children will recreate a pathogenic outbreak and will determine who has natural immunity. Also, your child will discover the role of antibiotics in fighting infection and disease.
Thursday 30 May: Phenomenal Physicists
Every child has their heroes, and this session is perfect for budding physicists! Children will travel back in time to learn about ground-breaking physicists of the past. They will repeat the famous experiments of Galileo Galilei to investigate the effect of air resistance on falling objects as well as Isaac Newton and Marie Curie.
Friday 31 May: Survivor!
The final session of the half-term utilises your child’s knowledge of science and skills such as independence and problem-solving. Children will learn how to make their compass and will also investigate different methods for filtering water and explore how to forage and hunt for food in the wild.
