Science February Half-term camp (Mon. 17/02 – Fri. 21/02)

Dates: Monday 17 February until Friday 21 February inclusive.


Time: From 9:00 am until 3:30 pm (registration opens at 8:40 am and closes at 8:55 am).


Age: 4 to 11 (children are organised into separate groups according to their age and level of knowledge).


Skill Level: All skill levels are welcome.


Location: Baden Powell House. 65-67 Queens Gate. SW7 5JS.


Lunch: Children bring their packed lunch, a few snacks and enough water for the day.



Children will be participating in a variety of demonstrations, group activities and practical experiments and will learn about exciting and enriching topics. Students learn through a hands-on approach and are welcome to take home any objects they have made throughout the week. See more details below.

Individual sessions are charged at a flat rate of £90 per child/per day.

Monday 17 February: Exploration Science

Our opening day of the half-term camp looks at the science behind exploration and how scientist wish to explore further and deeper than before. Children will build and launch a rocket, make their own compass, learn about lines of latitude and longitude and many more exciting and enriching activities.



Tuesday 18 February: The Aquatic World

In today’s session, children will learn about how beaches form, the anatomy of a fish and jelly fish and more. Children will participate in a real dissection of a fish and prawn and will make a model jelly fish to take home with them. Children will explore the layers of the ocean as the explore under the sea.



Wednesday 19 February: Rainbow Science

In this chemistry-based day, children will learn about how light splits into its constituent colours, neutralisation reactions and the purpose of universal indicator. Children will learn how glowsticks work and will make their own special kaleidoscope to take home with them.



Thursday 20 February: Earthly Science

Earthly science explores the structure of the Earth, the layers of the atmosphere and Earth’s resources. Children will be making a model atmosphere, mine for gold, learn the differences between soil types and more. Children be taught of the importance of protecting the planet.



Friday 21 February: Spy Science

Shh! This session is top secret! Children will become secret agents for the day and will immerse themselves in a range of activities and experiments based around covert chemistry and cryptology. Children will be tasked with writing secret messages, navigating traps, writing in binary code and more.
