What is logical reasoning? Logical reasoning involves applying rules to problem-solving. For children 7-9-years-old they will focus on developing the skills involved in logical reasoning and the strategies to use to solve problems. For children aged 10-12-years-old will focus on developing their abstract thinking by encountering more challenging problems.
What is the purpose of logical reasoning? Logical reasoning teaches children how to understand and logically work through problems and concepts. Logical reasoning assesses your child’s aptitude for problem-solving. Many school entrance exams including common entrance, 11+ and CATs include logical reasoning papers as means of assessment.
Benefits of learning logical reasoning: Logical reasoning teaches children to think outside the box and increases their problem-solving skills. The ability to think logically is applicable to a wide range of subjects at school from arts to humanities to mathematics and science. It is a highly sought after skill as many schools, universities and employers actively seek applicants that have the skills and abilities of logical analysis to reach the correct solution and consider different outcomes. Logical reasoning fosters independent and creative thinking which contributes to success in school work and examinations.
About this course: This virtual course has been designed for children to enjoy, have fun and learn. Our virtual weekend courses are small. The rationale behind having small groups is to enable tutors and children greater scope for interaction, dialogue, questions and answers. We also stimulate children to be creative. We teach children to learn how to identify a problem and look for a solution. We also foster the development of resilience. Sometimes, some children tend to give up easily. We teach children that they need to try for alternate solutions to a given problem in a logical and creative way.
What we teach: Children will learn what logical reasoning is. Discover how to approach problems. Learn about the importance of problem-solving in different contexts. Practise different approaches to logical reasoning questions. Verbal reasoning. Non-verbal reasoning. Identifying patterns. Justifying answers.
Differentiation: At Richer Education, we understand that ‘one size does not fit all‘. Therefore, our tutors and mentors differentiate the content of our sessions. We ensure that all children, regardless of their level of knowledge, are engaged at the appropriate level and pace.
Our 2021 calendar will be updated and published on 1 March 2021 according to the government guidelines at the time.

EXTRA-CURRICULAR IMPACT: THE DEVELOPMENT OF SKILLS FOR LIFE
Parents typically enrol their children in this course for two reasons. Primarily parents want their children to realise that mathematics and science can be used and applied in real-life situations, well beyond the school textbooks. The second reason is to get children to develop problem-solving skills, teamwork and resilience.
The emphasis is on fun, yet we inspire learning about concepts through dialogue and questioning.
