Tuesday 26 May: The Presidential Election
In the opening session of this half-term children will represent their own political party as they target the presidency of the United States. Children will learn about the political process, slogans and rallies as they create a convincing political campaign to persuade voters to select them. Your child will also learn about public speaking techniques.

Wednesday 27 May: Foreign Policy
Foreign policy is the interaction between nations including matters such as trade and defence and for the purpose of safeguarding national interests. In this session, your child will be introduced to different scenarios as a foreign secretary including negotiating, trade deals, preventing war and debating intelligence.

Thursday 28 May: Prison Reform
In this session, your child will take on the role of a prison reformer as they participate in debates and panel discussions on changing the prison system. Children will, firstly, learn about the existing system in the UK before deciding on their approach to prison reform or indeed whether it needs to change at all. Children will practise how to successfully defend their arguments.

Friday 29 May: The Budget
Every year the chancellor of the exchequer makes their budget statement to the House of Commons which outlines the state of the economy and taxation changes. In this session, your child will put their debating and public speaking skills to use as they prepare and deliver their budget to members of parliament before participating in parliamentary debates to defend their budget.
