Monday 13 April: NO SESSIONS – UK BANK HOLIDAY.
Tuesday 14 April: The Presidential Speech
Children will be looking at ways that public speaking can convey power by looking at a presidential speech. Drawing on speeches they themselves have written, children will present short speeches as a way of practising public speaking. Children will then progress to creating a campaign for a 2020 election.
Wednesday 15 April: The Media Influence
In this session, children will be introduced to the role of the media, how it operates and is able to influence and convince large groups in society. But children will also learn about the methods, techniques and mechanisms used to influence others. How can people become convinced of things which may not be true?
Thursday 16 April: Sales and Marketing
Children are introduced to the different ways in which big organisations use marketing techniques to sell products. Analysing the skills of a ‘good sales person’, children learn the techniques used to sell and develop their presentation skills by practising how to sell a big idea.
Friday 17 April: Becoming a Celebrity Actor
This session is intended for children to be introduced to public speaking techniques and as such they will pretend to be celebrity actors auditioning for a play. In each case they will have a phrase or a short poem, but they will have to read the phrase differently depending on the play. Children will refine their public speaking skills upon the advice of others.
