Product Description

The emphasis is on fun, yet we inspire learning about concepts through dialogue and questioning.
We will be offering brand new programmes for each week in summer.

***PLEASE NOTE THAT TOPICS AND/OR THE ORDER OF THE TOPICS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE WITHOUT PRIOR NOTICE***

Monday 19 August: Building a Chatbot

In this session, we will introduce variables, how the user inputs data, and how data can be output using Python. Your child will be tasked with creating a small “chatbot”, a very simple Artificial Intelligence they can “talk” to.

Tuesday 20 August: The Robotic Arm Part 1

In this session, children will start assembling the robotic arm. Also, they will learn how to connect and retrieve data from a potentiometer using Arduino. Children will gain an insight into the working principles behind mechatronics.

Wednesday 21 August: The Robotic Arm Part 2

In this session, children will finish assembling the robotic arm. They will learn about degrees of freedom and will start moving the robotic arm using two servomotors. Two potentiometers will be used to move the base and to extend/retract the robotic arm.

Thursday 22 August: The Golden Ratio

From flower petals, tree branches, shells, and hurricanes to galaxies, the golden ratio is everywhere! In this session, children will use Python to evaluate this astounding number using the Fibonacci sequence (1.61803398875…) and Python lists.

Friday 23 August: The Rainbow Challenge

Our final session this week explores the colour sensor of the EV3 robot and its applications. Your child will program the robot to follow an intricate sequence of paths of different colours. A time-based competition will take place at the end of the session in order to award the faster Rainbow runner.
