***PLEASE NOTE THAT TOPICS AND/OR THE ORDER OF THE TOPICS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE WITHOUT PRIOR NOTICE***

Monday 8 July: The Media Frenzy

The media, including social media, have a powerful voice in influencing others. In this session, your child will analyse the techniques used by the media to persuade others before writing their own newspaper article and presenting their own newspaper report.

Tuesday 9 July: Creative Writing Techniques

Creative writing differs from standard forms of literature as writers focus on character development, imagination and innovation. In this session, children will be introduced to creative writing techniques and will be expected to write their own story that they will present to their peers for feedback.

Wednesday 10 July: Composing an Argument

In this session, children will be asked to create a list of points for or against ‘nature’ and another set of points for or against ‘nurture’. Working in groups, children will put forward different arguments, understanding the two-way nature of an argument itself.

Thursday 11 July: Transport in London

In this session, children will be presented with important estimates of how many people move through the city everyday and the importance of effective transport for the city to continue to flourish. After analysing all this information children will create a strategy.

Friday 12 July: A Growing Population

Your child will be introduced to the historical rises in London’s population and they will reflect and debate the possible problems that the city will face if it does not prepare itself. Children will produce and present a plan to tackle a particular issue, such as, housing, hospitals, public space, schools amongst others.
