***PLEASE NOTE THAT TOPICS AND/OR THE ORDER OF THE TOPICS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE WITHOUT PRIOR NOTICE***

Tuesday 27 August: Reversible Engineering

In order to understand how machines and other objects work, engineers purposely deconstruct these to investigate. In this session, children will deconstruct objects such as an electric fan and nerf gun.

Wednesday 28 August: Separating Chemicals

Being able to separate substances is important to obtain specific materials. This session will discuss ores and minerals and the different processes used to separate the constituent materials. Children will also learn about chromatography and its role in identifying compounds.

Thursday 29 August: Project Management

Project management is a key element of any successful engineering project. It involves planning, monitoring, controlling and evaluating. In this session, children will learn about network diagrams and Gantt charts and how they can be used to plan, monitor, control, and evaluate projects.

Friday 30 August: Island Design

Artificial islands are constructed for many different purposes. This session will explore how artificial islands are protected from the sea/ocean and the considerations that go into designing the island, such as environmental factors, economic factors, design life and more.
