Monday 29 July: Chemical Engineering
Chemical engineering includes methods to use, produce, transform and transport chemicals. In this session, children will learn about chemical separation techniques as well as polymerisation and viscosity. Your child will produce non-Newtonian fluids and slime.
Tuesday 30 July: Wooden Structures
Timber is a building material that has been used for centuries. In this session, children will learn about the properties of timber as they design, construct and test a timber structure of their choice.
Wednesday 31 July: Urban Drainage
Sufficient urban drainage is necessary to prevent flooding in built-up areas. In this session, children will learn about sustainable drainage systems and will be tasked with constructing a drainage system that will be tested and evaluated.
Thursday 1 August: Engineering Persia
The Persian empire created some of the most notable engineering feats. In this session, children will learn about the design and construction of qanats and the materials used in the city of Persepolis.
Friday 2 August: Acoustical Engineering
Acoustical engineering deals with sound and vibration. In this session, your child will learn the fundamental concepts of sound before being tasked with creating a sound proof box before progressing to a resonance activity.
