Monday 22 July: Roads and Highways
In this session, children will learn about the different components of roads including the camber. Children will recreate model roads and design a new road layout for the city. Children will test their designs using remote control vehicles.
Tuesday 23 July: Light Engineering
Energy from the Sun can be harnessed for a variety of different purposes. In this session, children will construct a solar-powered house and investigate how a parabolic curve helps to heat an egg.
Wednesday 24 July: Stadiums and Arenas
Stadiums are important structures that rely on several different engineering concepts. In this session, children will learn about the architectural and structural considerations of stadiums before working as a team and building their own.
Thursday 25 July: Mighty Machines
Simple machines include levers, wedges and inclined planes. In this session, children will learn about the different types of simple machines, calculate the forces acting upon them and investigate the different types of levers.
Friday 26 July: Engineering Ancient Egypt
The Ancient Egyptians were renowned for their engineering feats. Most notably, their temples, pyramids and tombs. In this session, children will recreate these structures from the past using a range of different building materials.
