Monday 6 April: A Growing Population
This session will open with a look at the importance of debating and public speaking your child will then be introduced to the historical rises in London’s population and they will reflect and debate the possible problems that the city will face if it does not prepare itself. Children will produce and present a plan to tackle a particular issue, such as, housing, hospitals, public space, schools amongst others.
Tuesday 7 April: Preventing Extinction
In this session, your child will be introduced to a number of endangered and critically endangered species. They will learn about the man-made impact on extinctions and debate solutions for preventing extinction or sustaining the life of one particular species. Children will create a poster for saving the species and present the poster to the rest of the class.
Wednesday 8 April: Cybersecurity
Keeping people and data safe online remains a priority for many government organisations. In this session, children will debate the extent to which organisations can protect data without compromising privacy. Children will read articles on cybersecurity and information security, and will prepare and present a news report on the issue.
Thursday 9 April: The National Health Service (NHS)
The NHS celebrated 70 years of service in 2018 and has become a national icon. In this session, your child will put their public speaking skills to use as they participate in debates about the future of the NHS including privatisation. They will also participate in a parliamentary select committee discussing the impact of obesity and smoking heavy on the resources of the NHS.
